What to do with four giant cacti
by Julian Haladyn
[ poetry - may 07 ]
Duchamp and I sit at a board
playing with artistic notions of nudity
simplicity aids our imagination in fixating upon a topic
art cannot randomly fall from divinity
With his king Duchamp attacks
I am not in a position to contradict
so much play is found in positioning
so much of my artwork can be positioned in play
waiting is difficult but I look around
at bits of this and that
at cacti that Duchamp positioned around his TV
I am in no position to count cacti
so I switch chairs
two stand upon blocks of black wood
two stand on blocks of a light colour
Only four that I could see in total
but that is still a lot of cacti
for Duchamp to display in his living room
waiting I am sitting counting cacti
playing all positions in my mind
Duchamp adds a giant cactus
This is so that I must obtain my own giant cactus
and playing will go on
with us both in positions of nudity
